Manuscript Rescue
Need help choosing a Scrivener project, reviewing readable files, exporting, or managing local copies? Start here or contact us below. Please avoid attaching private manuscripts or sensitive project content to your support request.
01Choose a project or backup
Use the iOS file picker to select a project folder or ZIP backup. The app creates a separate working copy in its private storage. Your original stays at the location you selected. A Files provider may download or sync the selected source under its own terms.
02Review and save readable files
Read the files the app finds. Save an original file or a plain-text copy for free, or use Pro to export selected files together in one ZIP. The app cannot recreate text that is missing from the files.
03Remove working copies
Open Settings → Local storage to delete each working copy. Copies older than seven days trigger a reminder and are not automatically deleted. Temporary export files are cleared on the next app launch; exported copies must be deleted at their chosen destination.
04Reports, diagnostics, and purchases
A source report contains file names and local source paths, but no recovered manuscript text. Optional diagnostics contain counts and scan statuses without manuscript text, project names, source paths, or a persistent device identifier. Neither report is sent automatically. Apple StoreKit handles Pro purchases and restoration.
