Privacy Policy

Manuscript Rescue helps you inspect a copy of a Scrivener project and save files that are still readable. This policy describes the current iPhone and iPad app.
Files and processing
You choose a project folder or ZIP through the iOS file picker. The app reads the selected source and creates a separate working copy in its private storage. That copy can contain original text files, decoded text, file names, paths, snippets, hashes, scan results and reports. Your original remains at the location you selected. The app does not upload your manuscript to the developer or an AI service.
Storage and deletion
Working copies stay on your device until you delete them in Settings → Local storage or uninstall the app. The app marks these copies to be excluded from device backup. It shows a reminder when a copy is more than seven days old; it does not automatically delete it after seven days. Temporary export files are cleared on the next app launch. Files you save or share outside the app remain at the destination you chose and must be deleted there separately.
Files, cloud providers and sharing
If you choose a file from iCloud Drive or another Files provider, that provider may download or sync it under its own terms. The app does not choose a provider for you. When you use Save to Files or Share, iOS passes the file to the destination you select. A source report contains file names and local source paths, but no recovered manuscript text. The optional diagnostics export contains counts and scan statuses, without manuscript text, project names, source paths or a persistent device identifier. Neither report is sent automatically.
Purchases
Pro purchases and restoration use Apple StoreKit. Apple handles payment and your Apple Account; the app checks purchase status to unlock Pro. The developer does not receive your payment card details through the app. Apple processes purchase data under its own privacy policy.
Other data and services
The current app has no account, advertising, analytics, tracking, AI upload or developer-operated manuscript server. It does not automatically send manuscript content or diagnostics to the developer. If you voluntarily contact support and attach a file, the information you send will be handled through your chosen communication service.
Your choices and contact
You can remove each working copy in Settings → Local storage. You can delete exported files at their chosen destination, stop using the app and uninstall it. To ask about privacy or data deletion, use the support contact on the Manuscript Rescue App Store page. App Store subscription management and purchase history are handled by Apple.
We may update this policy when the app changes. The updated version will show a new date.
