KML Doctor is a macOS application for checking, repairing, and viewing KML and KMZ files. This policy explains what happens to information when you use the app.

Files you open

KML Doctor processes the files you choose on your Mac. A KML or KMZ file may contain names, descriptions, coordinates, images, or other information that you or someone else added to it. The app uses this content to identify problems, display geometry, apply repairs, and generate reports.

File analysis and repair take place on your device. KML Doctor does not upload your KML or KMZ files to a server operated by us. The original file is not overwritten by the repair workflow. Repaired copies and CSV or PDF reports are saved to locations you choose.

Map view

The map view uses Apple MapKit. When you open it, Apple Maps may receive information needed to display map tiles, such as the area visible on the map, as described in Apple Maps & Privacy. KML Doctor does not request your device’s current location. You can use file analysis and repair without opening the map view.

Information stored on your Mac

The app stores your language preference locally. It may also write a local security audit log when a file triggers a safety limit, such as an unsafe archive path or excessive archive size. This log records the type of safety event and limited technical details; it is not sent to us. It is designed not to record filenames, file contents, or coordinates.

Reports and repaired files remain in the locations where you save them. You control whether to keep, move, share, or delete those files.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

The current version of KML Doctor does not include an account system, advertising SDK, or third-party analytics SDK. We do not use the app to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Sharing and retention

We do not receive or retain the files you process in the app. Information used by Apple Maps is handled by Apple under Apple’s applicable privacy terms. Files, reports, preferences, and local logs stored on your Mac remain there until you remove them or macOS removes the app’s data.

Your choices

You can choose which files to open and where to save repaired copies and reports. You can delete saved files and reports using Finder. To remove the app’s locally stored preference and security log, remove KML Doctor’s app data from your Mac.

Children’s privacy

KML Doctor does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if the app’s features or data practices change. The updated version will show a new effective date.
